“You are my equal. And I am yours.”
Our Declaration of Truth
Welcome back to the Groovy Eye Gazette. The Temple of the Groovy Eye is just three months old, and there are already over 700 members. That’s 700 people in very good company. And this number is growing by the hour. So, let’s flex our muscle a little.
A Call to the Union
Time to Be Heard
There’s a Big Lie going around. It goes like this:
“It is possible for a person to be a natural-born inferior.”
The Big Lie manifests in many forms of inequality. Whether it be abuse of young women at the hands of privileged men, or the savage abuse of innocent immigrants at the hands of ICE, it is all supported by the crooked foundation of the Big Lie. It is time for TOGE, with its rapidly growing membership, to take a public stand and to beat back the Big Lie with the Big Truth: You are my equal. And I am yours.
Step one is to identify these forms of inequality, large and small. Many are obvious. Some are better disguised.
Step two is for TOGE to formulate and publicize a response to each, our official position, one every month, always cognizant to focus on the faulty foundation, on replacing the Big Lie with the Big Truth.
Where to begin? Using the link below, send us up to five examples of the Big Lie in action that you have witnessed or that have touched you directly. We will compile a master list and, with your input at our next Gathering, take aim at our first target and discuss the crafting of our first official position.
Every inequality will be answered by a Declaration from our union. And our foundation will be built.

A Reminder for Members
Day of the People’s Voice

A reminder as the election nears: the Temple observes national Election Day — Tuesday, November 3, 2026 — as a religious holiday, the Day of the People’s Voice. Casting a vote in the name of equality is a sacred act. We never endorse a party or a candidate, but we endorse equality without hesitation — so hold the Declaration of Truth in your heart and carry it into the booth. You have the right to request time off to vote as a religious observance. See the September Groovy Eye Gazette for a note from the Legal Department explaining how.
Carry the Big Truth
Become a TOGE Ambassador
Do you want to represent the Temple at a local event — a fair, a march, a community gathering? We’d love the help. We can’t pay salaries, but we can supply you with banners and informational materials to spread the Big Truth in your own corner of the world. If you’re willing to stand up and be seen, write to us at members@templeofthegroovyeye.org and we’ll get you outfitted.
Clergy Corner
Keeping It Legal and Marriage Laws by State: Our Twice-Yearly Law Audit
Every six months, the Temple audits marriage law in all fifty states and DC. Marriage laws change, and our clergy need the most current information we can give them.
This round, we found changes. Laws have changed! We are preparing a new state-by-state guide — our Keeping It Legal page will be updated and a new digital download will follow — coming soon.
A reminder while we work: our guide is a starting point, not the final word. Before you officiate, confirm the current requirements with the marriage license office in the county where the wedding takes place. They have the final say.
You are my equal. And I am yours.

The Groovy Penpal Program
Your November Penpal Awaits
The penpal program rolls on. Participants are paired on the 1st of every month, and your penpals never expire, so your circle only grows. To be matched for November, sign up before 12:00 PM on November 1. Missed the cutoff? No worries — join anytime and you’ll be included in the very next month’s swap. Begin your first note the way we always do: “You are my equal. And I am yours.”
Find Your People
The Opt-In Member Directory — in the works!
Many members have asked us how to connect with local members, find local officiants, or if there are local in-person chapters. We are currently working on safe ways to make all those things possible, while protecting privacy. Stay tuned!
The Groovy Eye Journal
The Journal Wants You
Are art and words your superpowers? The Journal is always open. The call: poems, a personal essay, and visual art on the theme “Equality and Me.” Send your work to submissions@templeofthegroovyeye.org anytime — check the Journal page for the current submission window.
Welcome
Welcome, New Members
If you just joined the union — welcome home. You’re already part of something real, and there’s a seat here with your name on it. Claim a penpal, submit to the Journal, come to the Gathering, and add your voice to our first official published stand. Questions, ideas, or a simple hello? Our members’ inbox is always open: members@templeofthegroovyeye.org. We’re so glad you’re here.
Come Together
Join the Union on Facebook
Between newsletters, the union meets in our private Facebook group — our living room. Share your art and words, meet your fellow members, and say the Big Truth out loud together. Believers, seekers, and skeptics all belong.
A Thought to Carry
“To be afraid is to behave as if the truth were not true…”
— Bayard Rustin
Show Us
We Want to See Your Smiling Faces!
We’d love to fill our website and social feeds with photos of members holding up signs that say “You are my equal. And I am yours.” — and short clips of you speaking the Declaration out loud would be every bit as powerful. Post on Facebook or Instagram and tag us, or submit directly through our website gallery page.
Speak the Declaration of Truth to someone today.
You are my equal. And I am yours.
