The Big Truth: We Are Equals, Beyond Sameness

What We Mean When We Say Equality

This is an idealistic theme, with inequality being much more easily identified in the world we share. So many good people are fighting for equality in the places they inhabit, and this is beautiful work. We recognize those systems, but our fight is for a deeper more profound equality than legal, social, religious, educational or economic.  

Our fight is for the underlayment of them all. Those systems currently rest upon the foundation of the big lie. We must outmaneuver that lie and replace it with the big truth, the profound truth of the moral equality of natural human rights. This is our natural state. Natural rights are ours from birth, no government nor person can grant or remove them. Indeed, if they ever reside in the hands of another: they have been stolen.  

Equality is not Sameness

There are many ways in which people are not the same. This is obvious. We have different thoughts and talents, we are of different races and genders, we are a vast and varied rainbow of sexualities, we possess different intellectual and physical capabilities, we come from different backgrounds, cultures, and economic situations. Difference does not justify inequality. We are not identical. The natural law of equality does not erase difference, it extolls it. What is erased are the unjust limitations and advantages that present solely because of difference. 

Despite what the big lie would have us believe, none of these biological traits nor social realities makes anyone of us the natural superior or inferior of another. Not a single one. We are all heirs to the natural law of equality, all created equal. 

Countless good people fight nobly against individual injustices that plague humanity, and we cherish those people and recognize the majesty of their courage. We see them, we see their necessary work, and we stand with them. However, we believe that now, in this dire moment, we must, with all due urgency, put every fiber of our collective wood behind one arrow. We must also be a single voice that does not demand but declares the natural birthright condition of every person; and call out as obscene any law, religion, or social custom that splinters our arrow, and surrenders us all to the unbalanced and artificial divisions of the big lie. 

For natural law of equality to bear the fruits of lived equality, we can not rely on those in power to grant it. We have tried claiming it from kings and pleading for it from democratic governments. None has done so yet, even when it is within their power and charter to do so.  They have answered our demands with wars, the empty words of institutional inequality, and corruption. We are fools to keep demanding what was never theirs to give or deny in the first place. In fact, equality is our original state and came before every religion, social system, government, law, and family structure. 

Groovy Eyes see within each person an equal being fully possessed with inherent equal rights. Irrespective of biological traits, abilities, or social standing. There is no other way to rightly see. 

For centuries all has been tried, every fight, every struggle, every battle, every speech, and every written word forever beseeching the system in power to change. All for nothing.  

If we are to ever possess this thing which is ours by right we must remake humanity from the ground up. This has never been tried. Instead of demanding something be given, we must declare the natural state of equality, claim our inheritance, which has been stolen. 

The kind of equality we seek is the mother of all equality, we must claim it, take it, and obliterate the power of every thief who would force unnatural hierarchy or dominion over any person or group.  

From the ground up is the only way to free ourselves from every form of mastery. The equality we seek is the birthright equality written in our DNA. We are equal children of creation and this truth will be made manifest - in our norms, laws, religions, and lifestyles - if we make of our own individual relationships the building blocks of one new foundation which will necessarily admit no inequality, no notion of natural superiority or inferiority. From this new foundation, all else will construct naturally; and all institutional systems built upon the foundation of inequality – no matter the flattery or piousness of their hollow words – will fall away. 

Equality is the whole ball game. If anything is holy, this is. Each one of us must ask ourselves the profound and truly sacred question: “Am I for equality?”  

Because equality is a single thing. If you are not for equality, for literally everyone, you are for inequality. That can’t be us. 

How? We stop demanding and we start doing. We speak the truth and bind all of our individual relationships with this truth so there is no space between us for the big lie.  

“You are my equal. And I am yours.” 

We believe it, we speak it, and we live accordingly. There is awesome power in this union. 

What will be the outcome? Whatever can come from equality will come from equality. The world will surely look different. The outcome is unknowable to us, since we have always stood, and spent our energy trying to balance upon, a foundation of inequality.  

What will be is whatever can be - built upon this new, unshakable foundation.
